What is Individual Therapy?

Clients who undergo Individual therapy work one-on-one with a trained therapist in an environment that provides confidentiality, safety, and empathy. The therapist engages the client in identifying feelings, behaviors, beliefs, as well as life changing and traumatic events and memories that continue to influence habits and life patterns that impact their personal, professional, and relational success.  The therapist will also work with the client to develop personal insight and self-awareness, understand the impact of outside influences, identify areas that need change, set personal, professional, and relationship goals, and develop a well-thought out plan for achieving the needed change and stated goals.

How long will Individual Therapy last?

There are many different reasons an individual might want to receive individual therapy. There could be a difficult and ongoing life situation, trauma from childhood or some other point in the past, situational or chronic depression and anxiety, or it may simply involve the desire to achieve personal and greater self-knowledge. Thus, individual therapy can require a few sessions, it can take several months, or it might last years. It all depends on why the client seeks therapy, the severity of the problem, and what they hope to achieve.

How do I get started?

The first step is to call and schedule your initial appointment. We will ask you some questions  You will receive information about the services that we provide, payment options, confidentiality policy, and an explanation of the process. You will also be asked some questions so that we can assess if we can help or if you need more intensive treatment. We may direct you to seek intensive treatment, or we will schedule you to come in for an initial consultation.

During the initial consultation, you will have an opportunity to see if you have good rapport with the therapist. The therapist will be able to learn more about you, why you are looking to receive individual therapy, and what outcome are you seeking to achieve. At the end of the initial consultation, if you feel that you will benefit from receiving individual therapy, you will decide on an available time-slot that works with your schedule. Sessions occur once a week, and each session lasts fifty (50) minutes.

To begin the process, call (954) 372-7299.
